The 20+ Program (A Free T for Me!)The Free T program is the Concord Walk for Hungers most popular program. To become a member of the Concord CROP Twenty Plus Club, individual walkers must obtain a minimum of twenty sponsors before the walk, or raise $500 in sponsorships. Two sponsor envelopes are needed, as the new sponsor envelopes have room for only sixteen sponsors on each envelope. Twenty sponsors entitle the walker to one free CROP T-shirt on the day of the walk. Anyone, youth or adult, is eligible for the award. Members of the Twenty Plus Club also receive certificates of recognition, which are mailed back to their church or other organization after the CROP Walk. While two people (or a family) may work together for twenty sponsors, only one shirt is awarded for twenty sponsors, two shirts for forty sponsors, etc. |
Special Activities for Youth |
Youth Banner ContestWe will hold our popular youth "Banner Contest again this year! If your group plans to enter the Banner Contest, please send back the postcard that will be sent you this fall so that we can be in touch. Copy the postcard form (or call us and ask for more) if there is more than one group or class in your organization entering a banner. We need a separate form for each banner. Directions for making the banner are on the enclosed flyer. We encourage you to have your group make the banners a couple of weeks BEFORE the CROP Walk. Then you can use them as colorful and visible aids in obtaining sponsors for the walk at your worship service on the Sunday before the CROP Walk. |

Community Service StatementsSeveral area high schools now require community service for graduation. The local CROP Board provides a statement of community service for young people. The statement should be filled out and turned in with the sponsor envelope when the envelope is turned in later. A minimum of $100 raised in donations is required for the CROP boards signatures. Four hours of community service is granted by most area high schools; this assumes approximately three hours spent walking and on pre-walk activities and one hour spent finding and collecting from sponsors. Two hours of community service is also granted for participation in one of the CROP musical events. Interested musicians can also gather sponsors for playing and earn additional community service credit. |
