The 2009 CROP Walk was a great success

There was a cold nor'easter with rain and snow during the walk, causing the festivities to be held indoors and the walk route shortened. Even with the bad weather, we raised a record $53,000!

Thanks to everyone for making this walk a success!

St. John walks for Madeleine Drop

We are happy and undaunted by the weather.

This year was a special year for St John because one of their most faithful walkers died and they are walking in her honor/memory.

She had a great passion for stamping out hunger and asked that people remember her by contributing to that cause. They walked with heavy hearts missing her--but with willing feet and pledges.

All the money collected was to honor Madeleine Drop. The donations were all made by church members and their sponsors.

About Concord CROP

Crossing Guard

CROP Hunger Walks are "Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty"-- neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world.

Funds raised by the Concord area CROP Walk go to Church World Service (CWS) for worldwide emergency relief of disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes; for refugee aid; and for fighting the root causes of hunger through community development programs in 80 underdeveloped countries. In addition, one quarter of these funds raised will provide substantial contributions to the seven local supper/food pantry programs that we support.

See the Crop Walk brochure for examples of CWS Development programs.
